Squid Jig

Calypso Egi “DICHROIC SERIES”

OMOROL® Calypso “DICHROIC SERIES” is a special edition characterized by the use of a particular fabric that changes color according to the angle of light. Moreover, the body has on the back some lightly “glow in the dark” white bands. The change of color takes place during the jerking phase and this represents an irresistible invitation to attack for the cephalopods.

OMOROL® Calypso is a resin filled squid jig, handcrafted and inspired by the aesthetics and technical functionality of modern egi, excellent for fishing any kind of cephalopod, especially squid, due to its perfect balance and the specific features.

The particular silhouette of Calypso is definitely more slim compared to the classical model of squid jigs so it can cut through the water better especially during jerking.

The special colors of Capypso, as well as for Karidea, are one of its strengths and come from the combination of the basic holographic finishing and the overlying cloth, very silky and with a perfect texture.

Calypso mounts sharp hooks of last generation, dark and round bended, mounted “on crossed crowns” (crowns are mounted in such a way that the needles of the upper crown cover the empty spaces left by those of the lower crown), which improves grip on the strike, and reduces the chances of losing the prey during landing phase.

The squid jig is completed by soft and durable rooster feathers, tridimensional glow eyes and a point of phosphorescence behind hooks.

Karidea Egi

OMOROL® Karidea is a premium handmade wooden squid jig, a really unique product due to its particular features, excellent for fishing cuttlefish and squid both inshore and offshore thanks to its perfectly balanced structure.

The look is deliberately inspired by the tradition of the great Japanese masters of egi building: the wood used is in fact a typical variety of the Asian tradition, much more durable and waterproof than ordinary balsa. Also the use of the lanyard is a clear reference, while remaining on modern materials as reliable 55 lb Japanese rope.

The particular colors of Karidea are one of its strengths and come from the combination of the basic holographic finishing and the overlying cloth, very silky and with a perfect texture.

Karidea mounts classical model hooks excellently performing because of mounting “on crossed crowns” (crowns are mounted in such a way that the needles of the upper crown cover the empty spaces left by those of the lower crown), which improves grip on the strike, and reduces the chances of losing the prey during landing phase.
